Who We Are
We are the grandparents, parents, siblings, spouses, and direct or adopted descendants within two degrees of consanguinity of American veterans. We know that military service is a sacrifice for the whole family, so ALA members quietly look for ways to ease the burden in this community— whatever it takes to get that family back on their feet physically, mentally, socially, and vocationally. If we don’t have the resources, we connect military families with our partners who do.
Julia Cox 2026 Girls State Delegate
Each year, Paso Robles ALA Unit 50 sends one high school junior to attend GIRLS STATE in Sacramento where she will have the opportunity to broaden her knowledge and skills in civic engagement, consensus building, advocacy, and service learning. This year's Delegate is Julia Cox and Alternates are Lila Colegrove and Mia Angel. The session for the Girls State this year will be at University of California at Riverside from June 22nd to June 27th.
Poppy Program
The American Legion Auxiliary adopted the poppy as its memorial flower in 1921 and started its Poppy Program in 1924. Today, Paso Robles ALA Unit 50 members distribute hundreds of poppies, which symbolize freedom and the blood sacrificed by troops, during the month of May. Donations received go directly to assist veterans and veteran services in our community, including Central Coast Veterans Helping Veterans and the Honor Flight.
